August Newsletter

Back to School Schedule:  We will be going back to the regular winter schedule on August 31st.  Unless you notify me otherwise, I will see you at the same time that you came last year.  If you need to change your lesson day or time please call me as soon as possible at 724-539-8704.

August Recital:  I have decided not to do a recital at Green Meadows this August because I don’t feel that I have enough students who are prepared.  There is however going to be a joint PMTA Westmoreland recital at Trombino Music Store in Westmoreland Mall on Saturday, August 22nd.  It is an informal recital so you won’t have to memorize, but you will be expected to dress appropriately.  (They have asked us not to allow our students to come in beachwear or flip-flops.)  Each teacher is allowed a 30 minute time slot.  Please let me know if you are interested so I can reserve a time spot.

Ensemble Concert:  PMTA is planning an ensemble concert (duets, trios, etc.) tentatively in September at either Seton Hill or Trombinos.  Students may play duets with other students, parents or teachers on one piano or two..  I will let you know when more information is available.  (We can be practicing duets now so that we will be ready when a definite date is available.)

Sonatina Contest:  PMTA Westmoreland Chapter is again sponsoring a Sonatina Contest at Seton Hill University.  I don’t have an exact date yet, but it is usually the 3rd Sunday in Oct.  We should be in Seton Hill’s new music building this year.  If you are interested, let me know right away so that we can get started on your piece.  You would be competing with other Westmoreland County students of your same level.   (There are 12 levels.) Music must be memorized and well polished.  Only the 2 best students in each category will receive cash prizes and be asked to perform in the winner’s recital.
