2011 Summer Newsletter
Sonatina Contest: Every year the Westmoreland Chapter
of the Pennsylvania Piano Teachers holds a Sonatina
Contest in mid October. Students of all
the Westmoreland County teachers can compete against each
other for cash prizes. The contest is
held at the new Seton Hill Performing Arts Center. There are 12 levels with a selected sonatina for each level.
(For example, all students in level one must learn and memorize the same
sonatina.)
Students who have entered the contest before are not required to advance a level each year. If you entered at level three last year and
found the competition too difficult you can enter at level two this year or at
level three again. I have finally
received the 2011 Sonatina list. Before I order the music for these sonatinas, I need to know how many of my students might be
interested in participating.
Parking: Since many of my students are coming during the day for the
summer I am asking parents to please not park in front of the mail box. My mail carrier (and
Latrobe paper carrier) come some time between 11:00 AM and 1:00 PM and if there is a car parked there
they can’t deliver the mail. You may
park in the driveway or in front of my husband’s workshop (the building beside
the house.)
Fall Schedule: I try to have my winter schedule done by mid August. If I don’t hear from you otherwise, I will
assume that you want your lesson on the same day and time as last year. If you need to change your time please let me
know as soon as possible. I am already
receiving calls from new students and I try to give my established students
first choice of lesson times.
